Padel Courts, Fareham Leisure Centre
Overview
We were approached Padel4all after a recommendation from a planning consultant colleague of ours. Padel4all were seeking to obtain permission for Fareham's first padel courts next to Fareham Leisure Centre. The project involves working closely with the client, the planning consultant that recommended us, ecologists, and drainage engineers to ensure that the project delivered a padel facility which would be a great community asset.
Design Approach
Padel4all has already undergone discussions with Fareham Borough Council prior to our appointment on this project, to determine the area of land which they would be able to potentially lease and build on, subject to approvals.
Following our instruction, we produced preliminary designs which were presented during a public consultation, held at Fareham Leisure Centre for approximately a week. The public comments received were overwhelmingly positive given padel's increasing popularity but lack of local facilities. The comments received then led the designs going forwards, and were amended in part to address the few concerns raised. Following a co-ordinated team effort between the various consultants, the planning application was submitted to Fareham Borough Council for consideration.
Some minor amendments were requested during the application process, which were addressed quickly.
Outcome
Following the submission of the application alongside minor details being amended, the application was approved planning permission in 2025. Various conditions relating to ecology and biodiversity were addressed and approved in late 2025, and construction began in February 2026. Works are quickly progressing, with the facility aiming to be ready to open around Easter 2026, becoming Fareham's first padel courts.
