Miller Drive, Fareham
Overview
This project involved a major transformation of an existing family home through substantial extensions to both sides of the property, along with extensive internal reconfigurations. The aim was to significantly increase the property’s footprint, modernise its layout, and create a home that could comfortably support evolving family needs.
Ground Floor Alterations
The ground floor layout was completely reshaped to improve flow and usability. The original integral garage was removed and replaced with a far more spacious and welcoming entryway. Part of the existing lounge–diner was reconfigured to create a dedicated playroom, providing flexibility for family life.
The conservatory was converted into a high-quality orangery, allowing the lounge-diner to seamlessly extend into this new space. The former kitchen was repurposed as a study, offering a quiet and practical workspace.
One of the most significant changes was the full-height side extension, which now accommodates an expansive open-plan kitchen-diner with a connected family room. Large bi-fold doors open directly onto the garden, creating a bright and sociable heart of the home. This extension also incorporates a modern utility room, improving day-to-day functionality. On the opposite side, the two-storey extension provides a substantial new double garage, offering ample storage and parking space.
First Floor Alterations
Upstairs, the property was completely reimagined. What was once a home with three bedrooms is now a generous five-bedroom layout. Two of the bedrooms include en-suite bathrooms, and the new master suite features both an en-suite and a walk-in wardrobe, greatly enhancing comfort and privacy.
The family bathroom was enlarged to include a separate shower, improving practicality for a busy household. Above the new garage, the first floor also accommodates a sizeable games room or office space, adding valuable flexibility to the home.
External Updates
The exterior of the property was updated to complement the extensive internal improvements. A new sliding gate enhances both privacy and kerb appeal. With external materials including a combination of brickwork, render, black timber cladding, and oak, the overall effect is a cohesive and attractive façade. Both the existing roof and new extensions were updated with artificial slate tiles, unifying the entire home.
Outcome
The project represents a complete transformation; structurally, visually, and functionally. The result is a modern, spacious, and highly adaptable family home that offers generous living areas, upgraded bedrooms, improved circulation, with a striking appearance. The project resulted in the property's value doubling within a period of less than 3 years.
